This beautiful looking original classic Fiat 126 hides a secret, and it hides it very well...For this little light weight classic fiat is powered by a 5 speed 150 BHP Yamaha FZR1000cc Exu engine !!!
To say its fast is an understatement, and understatement is what this iconic classic is all about. Painstaking time has been taken in order to hide what lies within, it was the fundamental aim of this project that the car must look like a beautiful standard classic car even down to the skinny tyres and fiat wheel trims, even on the inside there are virtually no clues as to its jekel and Hyde character. It has been built using the original dash, gear stick and instrument cluster all functioning but in a different way.
It has a manual choke on the floor again original equipment - you pull this up and turn the key and again with its silenced exhaust it fires into life instantly with a non-126 sound but still not over the top. Allow her to warm up then pull the gear stick backwards to engage first gear slip the clutch slightly and you're away with no dramas at all. Infact you would be forgiven for thinking this was normal, the ride is quiet and compliant and it is all business as usual UNTIL you floor the loud pedal and then all Hell brakes loose the sound changes the revs rise and rise and rise until you hit 13,500rpm at which point you grab second with a swift cluthless change and it starts again, and again and again - infact 5 times at which point you are going at crazy speeds.
Just imagine this, it's a sunny day your out for a drive you pull up to the lights grab the inside lane there's no hurry !! A BMW M3 pulls up alongside he's got the top down ( Its sunny !! ) he's a mature driver and so glances across to pay full respect for this beautiful condition classic Fiat 126. A mutual glance of respect is exchanged for each other's fine automobiles and at this point the Race begins even though at this point the M3 driver doesn't realise this; BUT he soon will ! The lights change and the M3 powers away with a clean purposeful start, its obviously only fair to give the underdog a head start - with a 0-60 of 3.5 seconds and a 0-100 of 12.5 it's a forgone conclusion that within 1 gear change your long gone, it's a shame the BMW driver never really gets the chance to see this happen but at least with the top down he gets to hear it !!!
The Yamaha FZR1000 Exup is carb version, its fitted in the rear of the fiat and is chain and sprocket driven to the rear wheels via a differential. All the wheels and brakes are original Fiat, the exhaust is a hand made item with a classic motorcycle end can. It all fits in very neatly and it works very well as a package.
It uses the Yamaha Gearbox chain and sproket driven to a Celica GT4 LSD Differential. ( It currently has no reverse, but is easily fitted...)
You need to get your hands in your wallets and get it bought, its mental fun that is depreciation Free. It is without doubt like an adrenalin high every time you pilot this little space ship...
